Hello. My godson is American but lives in a city in Europe where few people look like him. Do you have book suggestions, particularly books that teach him about his heritage, character, positive role models, etc. Thanks!
Jason Reynolds has so many good books (and graphic novels, if your godson likes those). We’ve got Stuntboy, Ghost/Patina etc., and As Brave As You. All really lovely.
My son has read two Jerry Craft graphic novels, the second of which features a young Black boy navigating middle school. Also great.
Finally, Lamar Giles has a great trilogy (I think it begins with The Last Last-Day-of-Summer) which has two Black boys as the protagonists in what’s kind of a mystery/fantasy—it’s playful and maybe a little young? But good and quick reads.
