I haven’t read like I used to for about 10 years due to moving a lot, living in cars, and just life. I now have the time for reading but I’ve no idea where to start and just walking around at the library is intimidating. I used to love all sorts of books, Eragon series, Percy Jackson, Esperanza Rising, Harry Potter, and some that were space related and some set in the past. Kind of all over the place I know, I just have no idea where to start. Anything is helpful thank you

A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers. It’s a quick read to help you get back in the swing of things. Warm cozy sci-fi.

The Warrior’s Apprentice by Lois McMaster Bujold. Witty, adventurous space-opera sci-fi. If you like this one you’re in luck because there are many other books in the series.

The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold. I loved fantasy as a kid, but this was the first fantasy book for adults that I loved.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik. This is a fairytale-esque fantasy. If you like this, she has other stand-alone novels with the same fairytale like feel.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. A warm, feel good fantasy.

If you’re willing to give graphic novels a shot, I highly recommend Saga by Brian K Vaughan. This is such a well written, emotionally compelling, character driven space opera.
