I will begin this by saying I have read maybe two romances in my entire life (I’m 19). I have always been more a fan of the eldritch horror or fantasy genre, having just made it half-way through The Wither series. However, I have come to realize from time in college that tragic romances also tickle my fancy. I don’t want EVERYONE dying or breaking up or the sorts, but I like to think of this branching from the works of Edgar Allen Poe.
Long description I know, but I just want some romance reads that aren’t all lovey dovey. Any ideas are truly appreciated.

A Dowry of Blood by ST Gibson is a retelling of Dracula’s brides. Fantasy and horror mixed with a toxic relationship. There is some tender romance too, but not overwhelmingly so.
