Just for some context, I have this habit where wherever I travel for some country, I buy one book from a author of that same country.
In Czech Republic obviously I went for Franz Kafka. Sweden, Selma Lagerlof, Italy Italo Calvino and in Britain I chose Oscar Wilde.
I try to choose iconic and notable writers that are widely known in that country’s literature but I’m open too to more recent novel writers.
Hoping to see some sugestions.
Thanks in advance.

Olgar Tocarzuk is a contemporary Polish writer who won numerous awards in recent years, among them the nobel prize for literature.
Jurek Becker was born in Poland and is maybe most known for *Jacob the Liar.*
And Stanislaw Lem of course is a writer of great importance, too.
Wilde is Irish..
