I’m currently reading The Rose Code by Kate Quinn and really enjoying it. I’d love to learn more about the real people and the codebreaking work in WWII. Is the Turing book by Hodges a good place to start? Or is there another one that folks recommend?

Not just WWII and not Bletchley Park: {{The Woman Who Smashed Codes by Jason Fagone}}.
If you are willing to read more fiction on this, there’s {{Enigma by Robert Harris}}.
Although more general in its scope, there is a fair amount of information on WWII cryptography in Simon Singh’s The Code Book. It’s a great accessible explanation of manual codes and codebreaking.
