I’ve read the Wikipedia page of this book and it says that the book has won the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award at the same time; it also states that it’s a precursor to Catch-22 which is really cool so coming from my favorite Modernist author and winning 2
noble prizes, I had to look for more information about A Fable but I couldn’t really find much useful information or reviews on Reddit or on Google.
It seems like this book is quite universally hated except for a few cases; I don’t really understand why, people say that it’s overwritten and dense (which is the latter I think is Faulkner’s hallmark?), and it’s quite strange for a book in which its author considered his masterpiece and is so frowned upon.
Can anyone please explain why is it bad? What’s your own opinion about it and should I read it?

I love Faulkner but I struggled with this one. I definitely wouldn’t say its bad and has the density that he is known for but I never connected with it and didn’t finish.
