when you say “oh i’m on chapter ___” of a book, do you mean you haven’t started that specific chapter yet or you just finished that chapter?
i noticed that when i discuss this with people, everyone’s answers are different.

personally, if i say that im on a chapter, then i mean that i haven’t started it yet.

let me know your thoughts and opinions.

    1. “On” chapter X means you’re about to start it or you’re partway through it. If you just finished the last sentence of chapter X-1, you would be on chapter X now.

If I say I’m on chapter 5 it means I’ve finished chapter 4 and have either not-yet started 5, or am somewhere in 5

    3. If I’m “on” a chapter then that means I’m currently reading it. If I just finished one but haven’t started the next, I’ll just say that I just finished Chapter 4
