Finished The Revenant (Michael Punke). Looking for similar genre

Looking for a violent, action packed book. Fiction or non fiction, as long as it’s realistic.

I want to actually feel worried about the characters in the book, as opposed to knowing they’ll make it through. I loved some of Jack London’s books where the story oriented entirely on how the main character was going to surely die. As you may have figured, I’m looking for a dim set story which can make me sad or anxious for the protagonist.
