Looking for a novel about the complexity of human relationships and discovering oneself and one’s identity through relationships with others.

I’d like a book where you can see all the intricacies of the human soul and delve as deeply as possible into the psychology of the characters. Special kudos if it’s a classic. In that vein, I’ve enjoyed Saramago’s and Dostoyevsky’s novels quite a bit. Any other ideas?
