    Hi, people! 👋🏼

I recently finished Alone With You… by Olivia Blake and I’m feeling so many things toward this book! First there’s no doubt the writing is exquisite. The way she places and combines words is so beautiful and lyric, and I got impressed by how she conveyed the characters’ particularities in each section as she switched from one POV to the other.

That said, I still don’t get what the purpose of those “Narrators” was? If anyone can share their opinion here I’d appreciate.

Plus, something fell a little flat with me regarding the way Regan’s mental disorders and her relationship with medication were depicted. I’ve struggled with depression, anxiety and panic myself. Got into psychiatric treatment at 13 after almost dying. Had to try 5 different therapists before finding one that really worked, and honestly it was only after therapy that I made peace with the fact that I needed medical assistance and that I had an actual issue.

I feel like the way the author talked about this was a little irresponsible? Stopping your medication on your own is not poetic you know ITS DANGEROUS. I understand in the book Regans family was putting pressure on her and there are several specificities there, but idk it really left a bitter aftertaste for me. I just imagine a young girl going through all this, reading that without discernment, and thinking she’ll be an artist like Regan and give herself the stop to medication.

What do you think about this topic? I know it’s a heavy one!
