I loved Maria Dhavana Headley’s new Beowulf translation, so poetic yet informal, and I hear Emily Wilson’s Odyssey has great development of female characters and new insight into a classic. What are the other translations a modern gal shouldn’t miss? Is anyone doing a modern Gilgamesh? A feminist Le Morte d’Arthur? A colloquial Táin Bó Cúailnge? A postmodern Dante’s Inferno? What am I missing that you want to recommend?
