Any recommendations for a book on the French Revolution and Napoleon that isn’t extremely dry and boring. Possibly a book that has more narrative than just names and dates.
I don’t need to know all the nitty gritty details but just looking for an enjoyable read to understand the basics.

It’s only one part of the larger story, but I enjoyed Timothy Tackett’s *The Coming of the Terror in the French Revolution*. It has a real sense of tragedy, of things spiraling out of control.
Someone else can probably recommend a larger overview of the whole thing (I can only point to the Great Courses lecture series Living the French Revolution and the Age of Napoleon, which I enjoyed immensely, but it’s not a book, unless it counts as an audio book).
Adam Zamoyski’s Napoleon biography is a brilliant, unsympathetic take. It’s well written and not dry at all, and really questions and probes into the myths.
