I feel like crawling back into a fantasy word, but so many tales are unfinished by their authors. So, I’m after a one-off or a finished not-too-terribly-long series with a satisfying conclusion to read next. Horror tones, wild levels of weird, and philosophical ideas are more than welcome.
Some I’ve liked over the years include a lot of the usual suspects: Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, Witcher, Harry Potter, the novellas from RR Martin, Cugel the Clever, Sad Tale of the Brothers Grossbart, Discworld, Dune 1, Beowulf, Eisenhorn (40k is maximalist fantasy in the end), the works of Lovecraft, and Conan.
Others I’ve read that I have mixed feelings about: Harry Potter, Prince of Nothing (stopped after book 3), Wheel of Time (not a fan, I’m afraid), Black Sun Rising, Dark Tower.
What do you recommended?
(It being Black Friday, bonus points for being on sale for Kindle. Not necessary tho. I just want a good read.)
