I recently read ‘Really good, actually’ by Monica Heisey. She said in one of her interviews that young divorce is not a common theme in popular culture books and films and I sort of agree. She had a divorce when she was 28, so did myself and reading her book which was loosely admittedly based on her own experience was one of the most healing things I read in the last year since my divorce.

I’m looking for books which talk about someone’s experience of a divorce at a young age. Witty books with dark humour is appreciated, so similar to Really Good, Actually please. I also welcome book suggestions for a young woman who feels directionless and uncertain of the future.

    Many thanks!

    1. I was literally about to recommend that book!

My secondary follow up would be Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton. It’s not strictly about divorce but its about the evolution of how we experience love (romantic and platonic) in our lives and draws on both Dolly’s experiences and that of her friends (one of which I believe divorced in her early thirties IIRC).

    2. I loved Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. Not exactly about divorce but rather about loneliness, self-discovery and finding purpose (while also having some dark humor).

    3. Grand-Berry7669 on

Needle in a haystack, by casey jordan. A woman describes her relationship with her husband in the book and why she divorced after 12 years of marriage. Married at 18, divorced at 30. She also feels directionless and unsure of the future.
