    Hi there!

New to this subreddit (and Reddit in general even though I’ve had an account for years), so I hope I don’t accidentally break any rules. I was hoping to find any book recommendations that fit the criteria in my title so I can cry December away.

Throughout this whole year I have been thoroughly enjoying reading Dark Academia books (The Secret History, If We Were Villains, Babel or The Necessity of Violence and These Violent Delights \[the one by Micah Nemerever\]) Aside from loving the themes of obsession, beauty and etc, I found myself being pulled into these stories due to their relationships with one another; how these friendship groups seemed ideal, how they all loved each other and most importantly how they cracked due to various reasons that could have ranged from toxic dependencies, misunderstandings and etc.

I was wondering if anyone had any books that have these themes and can make me possibly cry (so far these haven’t.) It doesn’t have to be about dark academia – just about a book that showcases people coming together and forming a great friendship only for it to break in the end.
