Agatha Christie is my favorite author, my favorite book of hers (as of now) is Death On The Nile. I want something of that vibe. I have attention span issues and want some kind of old timey detective to shock me lmao.
I’ve also enjoyed Gone To See The River Man & And Then There Were None
(I feel the need to specify that I’ve read more than three books in my time 💀)

If you’re into Christie, I can recommend The Franchise Affair by Josephine Tey (see also Shilling For Candles). Old school Murder mystery but I found the writing very compelling.
{{A Morbid Taste for Bones, by Peters}}
Even Though I Knew the End by CL Polk
Good rec, that Redditor who suggested Tey; old-fashioned yes, but loads of atmosphere and mystery.
Brat Farrar is another brilliant one of hers; a man returns to his home after many years away; is he the Lost Son or is he an impostor??
Another ‘old-timey’ writer is Ngaio Marsh, why not try the rather weird Off With His Head, in which someone dies during a recreation of a medieval ritual…
Anytime Christie is mentioned, I will always recommend “Murder In Mesopotamia”, “Hercule Poirot’s Christmas” and “The Murder of Roger Ackroyd”.
Recently finished The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides and the ending definitely threw me for a loop
