When I travel, I like to read books set in or about the areas I’m travelling to. Next year I’m going to Korea and Japan (Seoul, Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka), and I’m looking for 5 ish books to read while I’m there. Books about diaspora and cultural experiences are also great. I mostly like fiction (particularly historical fiction and mysteries), but I’d also go for well-written, interesting non-fiction (for example, I usually love reading Bill Bryson when travelling). I also looove scifi but it doesn’t usually reflect a country or culture in this way.
I loved Pachinko, and I’ve heard good things about Crying in H Mart. Can anyone recommend some books along those lines or that you think would be good for my circumstances?
