My Wife is an avid reader, while I am not so that makes getting her books somewhat difficult, but I know she wants to expand her library some.

    Her favorite books are:
    – 50 Shades of Gray trilogy (she’s read it 3-4 times)
    – Hunger Games series
    – Divergent series
    – Twilight series (she’s read it 2-3 times)
    – Vivy Light Novel series
    – Secrets of the Silent Witches light move series

I know she has seen the Vampire Diaries show, The Originals and Legacies. So I was thinking the Vampire Diaries books, has anyone seen the show and read these books and have a preference or any distinct differences that one does better or worse than the other?

I was also thinking “The Southern Vampire Mysteries” as the show True Blood is based off of them. While she hasn’t seen that show, I thought it might be a semi-close combination of 50 Shades and Twilight.

She is not a fan of manga, the reading backwards isn’t her favorite, but she is fine with light novels. She does own the Quintessential Quintuplets and Demon Slayer manga collections, but I know she does not want more.

    1. The Vampire Diaries books aren’t great. They are very high school and silly. The show just used the character’s names as a jumping off place. Of the two I’d definitely do the True Blood books because they were really fun. I’d also throw in these as contenders too:

The Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill

Dark Fever series by Karen Marie Moning

The Hollows series by Kim Harrison

      A Discovery of Witches series

The Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh

Black Dagger Brotherhood series (I wasn’t crazy about these but I also didn’t like 50 Shades…so these might be a good fit for her)

    2. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening by L.J. Smith

There should be an omnibus of the TVD. Also, if she enjoys Harris and L.J. Smith, both authors wrote other series.
