I am looking for suggestions for a book that is magical, fantasy that’s cozy but with depth. It’s a tall order I know. I love Mists of Avalon but hate the author. I need something that will take me away, had some heavy stuff happen lately in my life and need an escape that’s not violent. Thanks!

The War of the Flowers by Tad Williams?
Have you tried Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series? You can pick up anywhere in the series pretty easily. If you’re looking for fun wise witchy tone try Wyrd Sisters. If you’re looking for a criminal with a heart of gold try Going Postal. If you love the slightly cynical old copper trying to keep a city held together try Men At Arms. There’s a ton to choose from. The books are fantastic, witty, and cozy rads with surprising wisdom. I drop Pratchett quotes several times a week. Before his passing a few years ago, he was best friends with Neil Gaiman (author of American Gods, Neverwhere, and Good Omens… all also great reads!)
