Hello everyone
I am really bad at reading but i do enjoy it. Recently ive been reading quite heavy non-fiction and I sometimes go weeks without picking the book up because i feel quite defeated by my slow reading abilities and lack of comprehension. I would like to read some short books and feel im achieving something.
What are your favorite books/stories under 100 pages (or just over)?

The Old Man and the Sea
Book by Ernest Hemingway
128 pages
Mice and Men (112 pages)
Brokeback Mountain (64 pages)
The Metamorphosis (70 pages)
But youo should read slow, reading is for pleasure, not a competition.
Dont you feel defeated when you go take a walk?
Sounds like what you’re looking for are short stories.
I can recommend Tenth of December by George saunders. The stories vary between about 3 and 30 pages.
Every book is under 100 pages, you just might need a really small font and a magnifying glass to read it.
But to be serious, Heart of Darkness (77 pages). That is a dense book.
Love that dog by Sharon Creech.
Animal Farm. Imo it’s the best book by Orwell.
The Pearl by Steinbeck has 118 pages
Does it have to be a hard copy?
If not, then how ’bout a short story that you can read online? A lot of magazines that publish this format have archives you can browse whenever you’d like a quick read.
Here’s my favorite – [The Island of Misfit Toys by Fiona Moore](https://clarkesworldmagazine.com/moore_12_20/) (fantasy/scifi/spec fic)
Or you can try getting something [random](https://clarkesworldmagazine.com//?redirect_to=random&cat=58). 🙂
The a series of unfortunate events books are quite short, and a beautiful story
Who moved my cheese?
claire keegan writes short (and very good) novels
Some great short stories by Kafka, Oscar Wilde, Twain, Hemingway, Asimov, Vonnegut, Lovecraft, Raymond Carver, Jorge Luis Borges, Jose Saramago, Herman Melville, Anton Chekhov. Essays by Audre Lorde. Plays by Samuel Beckett, Tom Stoppard
Oooh I love novellas/short stories, this is my time to shine!
The Six Deaths of the Saint by Alix E. Harrow (30 pages) – it says it’s a series on Goodreads but that’s just other short stories in the same release that are unrelated. It’s a standalone 30 page short story.
The Singing Hills Cycle by Nghi Vo – they are not all under 100 pages but they are all very close to it!
Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher – it’s a little over 100 at 116 but I would recommend this one above all else on the list. 🙂
All tomorrows, by C.M Koseman, it’s around 111 pages but some pages have illustrations so in terms of reading might be under 100 pages not sure, but it’s pretty good
