My SO looks forward to receiving books as gifts. He’s into history, biographies, firsthand accounts of endurance and survival, WWll and American civil war. Some authors from his shelves include, Hampton Sides, Stephen E. Ambrose, Hugh Ambrose, Jeff Shara, Eric Larson. Some titles from other authors include Unbroken by Laura Hillerbrand, Against All Odds by Alex Kershaw, Target Tokyo by James M. Scott, Endurance by Alfred Lansing. He does read some fiction like Ken Follett and George R. R. Martin but not much. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

he might appreciate Spike Milligan’s war memoirs. starts with Adolf Hitler my part in his downfall, but grow progressively more serious as spike gets deployed to Tunisia and then to Italy where he was involved in the battle for monte cassino.

edit: these are not linear accounts :P.
