I’m looking for awesome one-shot or stand alones that cover the medieval fantasy trope. I like action and adventure, some character development, romance is fine.
Even if it fits into a larger work but can still stand on its own. I love LotR, GoT, Wheel of Time but good lord it’d be nice to get through some smaller works too. Lol
Thanks in advance!

Ok so this is kind of a book, but it’s straight up a digital RPG/CYOA type thing. It’s just called “Medieval Fantasy RPG.” I know, super creative name, but it’s on the App Store and made by a small creator/developer. The books in this app are Mostly connected to each other but you really can play them as stand-alones and you can play for free/restart whenever you want.
There are nights, some light romance, some explicit s3xual scenes but not totally overdone, demons and succubi, death/Gore. If you want a more passive reading experience, that’s cool, but if you don’t mind reading and interacting with the story choices, this is a pretty cool option. The books are lengthy enough to keep you entertained for hours, but short enough to hold your interest in they keep a pretty good pace.
_Her Majesty’s Wizard_ by Christopher Stasheff. First in a series, but you can continue or not as you like
Almost anything by G. G. Kay or K. J. Parker. Parker has some trilogies but they are clearly marked – you can start with The Folding Knife or Savages if you want to be sure. Kay has only The Fionavar Tapestry and The Sarantine Mosaic as multi-volume works, everything else is standalones. Standard starting recommendation for him is The Lions of Al-Rassan.
