Hello all! I want to get my husband an advent calendar of books, but the books he likes and the books I like don’t have a ton of overlap, so I don’t want to get him books he hates. He does not have a tbr, he’s getting back into reading after awhile so he’s been rereading an old favorite series to get back into it.
He’s currently rereading the Dresden Files, and has all of them. His favorite series growing up was Percy Jackson, he reads Lore Olympus religiously, and just bought a few books by Neil Gaiman and Brandon Sanderson, but hasn’t read them so I’m unsure if he’ll like them or not.
He has very little tolerance for spice/smut, and would prefer there be little to no romance at all in the book because he rarely feels like it adds to the plot.
He has talked about wanting to read more by bipoc and lgbtq+ authors because he didn’t get much exposure to books by people who weren’t straight white men growing up and wants to wxpand his horizons, so those recommendations are very encouraged.
He likes urban fantasy, and doesn’t want a crazy high fantasy “non realistic” world. Again, little to no romance as much as possible. That’s where I seem to be getting stuck. I have a few things on my list, but so much of what I’ve seen seems to have a romantic subplot.
Thanks in advance!
