Iām looking for a book to read with a weirdly specific trope so if you have smt like this plz lmk š
Basically something where the first books are about a first generation that become legends and heroes and then the next ones are about the new generation and the first gen is always mentioned. It could be mentioned that some turned evil, died, etc..
Just something where some old characters are still there, some are dead, some are evil working against them, and some are off chasing something else
Some examples I can think of
In overwatch cutscenes, the characters often mention Jack Morrison and when Lucio joins Overwatch, he remarks how cool it is that heās standing where commander Morrison stood. Itās kind of bittersweet. Mcassidy also has a scene where another character talks about needing Jack back but he replies with āJack Morrisons off chasing ghosts and he isnāt coming back.ā
Another overwatch example is just Reins character as a whole. Heās always reminiscing about his battles and who he used to be, blah blah.

David Gemmell’s “Rigante” series (Sword in the Storm, Midnight Falcon, Ravenheart, Stormrider). First book is about a hero, second is about the next generation, third and fourth books are set centuries later.
I feel like The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson could fit this
