I was asked for a Christmas list and want to put some books on it but the people who asked are very homophobic so what’s something I can ask for that doesn’t look like it’s queer or has anything like that in it. All the lists I have looked at most of the either art or titles are explicitly queer and that won’t fly. Thanks. Is that allowed under the rules not really sure. Sorry if it isn’t.

    1. The **Nightrunner** series by Lynn Flewelling (the characters’ relationship is secondary to the fantasy/adventure/intrigue plot, and doesn’t actually start until the end of the second book)

    2. [YA recommendations since those are the only ones I really read]

It completely depends on whether they’re going to read the blurb. If they are, I would recommend “The Love Interest” by Cale Dietrich. It looks like the straightest of straight books from both the cover and the blurb, but it’s super gay.

If you don’t think your parents are going to fully read the blurb, but they might skim it, I would recommend “The extraordinaries” (series) by TJ Klune. Almost every TJ Klune book is great for that, I’d do some research into those. other books that aren‘t too obvious if you just skim it, or might not raise too much suspicion are The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas and The Gentleman’s Guide To Vice And Virtue by Mackenzie Lee.

Some that are great if you know for a fact they won’t look at the blurb are Simon vs The Homo Sapien’s Agenda by Becky Albertalli, Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender (although I’d take a look at the cover, it’s a little queer), and Henry Hamlet’s Heart by Rhiannon Wilde.

I’ll look into a couple more for you, those were just the ones I could find on my shelf. Hope this helps!

    3. What do you like? Romance? Contemporary? Thriller? Do you want a queer romance as a main arc, or just a book with a queer cast? Are you specifically looking for gay, lesbian, bi, trans rep, ace rep? (or other specific things!) Adult or YA? (I don’t have a ton of adult recs, but I have YA ones, but answering my questions I’m sure will help others brainstorm too!)

And how closely will these relatives read the back cover copy/front flap with the plot summary? Or will they mostly look at covers and that’s it?
