I want something about finding a space and place in the Homeland (somewhere outside of the city or suburbs). I want to read about progressives making a space for themselves in the land that runs red.

Is it possible to co-exist peacefully? Queers, liberals, progressives – some of us want to make something of ourselves in the Great Wide Open. And I want to read about them. Think Indigo Girls, Dolly Parton, Corb Lund even.

You can include themes of Americana, bluegrass, and folk into these vibes. I want to explore the queer folks’ stories, and try to find a way to coexist.

Anything that fits that- that’s what I’m looking for.

YA fiction: I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston addresses this dynamic, though it’s a bit of a sub plot. It’s not 100% peaceful but definitely about finding place to belong!
