For Thanksgiving we will be going to an Airbnb near Joshua tree for four days. Will be with family but wanted to pick up a book to read at night or in the morning. I usually enjoy mysteries, thrillers, historical fiction/nonfiction and pretty open to anything. I would like something that

    1. Is calming and feels good/feelsl like I learned something after finished it
    2. Or something with a good story even if it get emotions up
    3. Something I could reasonably finish during that four days
    4. Nothing too scary (suspense or thriller ok) as I may reading in the quiet of the night

edit: please give a reason for your suggestion!

    1. Coffeecatballet on

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. It give a different look at the Deep South during segregation in the US. It also shows what love for others can over come and accomplish. It’s a strong book that has a bit of everything you’re looking for.

    2. Something by Sarah Addison Allen maybe? She writes Magic’s realism that is always feel good and cozy. Perfect for the holidays when you’re dipping in and out of a storyline or interrupted by others things to do.
