I am 20% through If This Book Exists, You’re in the Wrong Universe…
It’s SO good and I was recommending it to a friend when I googled to get description help.
To my shock and horror it’s apparently the 4th book in the series. I had no idea!
Should I stop now and start with the 1st book? If so what order do you read them in?
I tried googling but I’m afraid of spoilers!

It doesn’t. They can be read in any order and somewhat operate as stand alone books.
Stop now, start at the beginning. You’ve already had a significant amount of plot spoiled, though.
I do think you might want John Dies at the End just because that sets up how they ended up dimension hopping in the first place. It’s a pretty fun movie too, if you wanna go that route.
I haven’t read that one, but you could pretty easily read This Book is Full of Spiders or What the Hell Did I Just Read after JDatE without losing too much. I wouldn’t read any of them without reading JDatE first.
