    Hi,
I want to read a book which is not set in near future i.e maximum 100 years into the future but preferably with current technological scope if it takes place on earth. If not on earth, then it doesn’t matter like Children of Time it was not focused on Earth and events of earth so it was a great read.

Books I like : Hail Mary, The three body Problem series.

Best example I can give you is the Long Winter Trilogy – I want something more along those lines a new possibility of extraterrestrial contact but there is mystery surrounding which need to be solved, a genius lead, doesn’t have to be hard sci-fi. It just needs to start within near future if it extends to a large span of time that’s also fine like the three body Problem series.

What I did not like :

I did not finish Blindsight it was too detached from reality for me.

    Did not enjoy Ancillary Justice.

I also don’t want too much Fantasy. I also want it to be grounded in reality and straight forward, so Anhilation was kind of a miss for me.

Please let me know if you have any recommendations and I will be really Thankful.

    1. Armada by Ernest Cline. It’s not so much focused on the aliens, but it was a page turner.

    2. *Rosewater* is an excellent Nigerian sci-fi series that features a young man who has been given powers of insight by a strange alien presence in the city. He works as a “finder” for the government and encounters conspiracy while also trying to figure out what exactly this alien *is.*

*To Sleep in a Sea of Stars* is the newest book from Christopher Paolini and is a huge tome that spends a lot of pages laying foundations for a full series. A female scientist finds a mysterious alien artifact and unknowingly starts an intergalactic war in doing so. Great thrills, good action, fun creatures, just a bit longer than it needs to be.

*A Matter for Men* by David Gerrold is the first book of the War Against the Chtorr series. Sci-Fi horror where plagues have wiped out most of humanity. Then mysterious creatures begin to be sighted. Are they real? The truth turns out to be more horrifying than expected. Might feel a bit dated, but is absolutely a “cult classic” in monster horror.

*The Lesson* by Cadwell Turnbull is a story about what happens when aliens make first contact in the Caribbean. An interesting setting and unique characters that follow what happens once these beings have integrated into society
