Hey all, when I read, I’m usually like to READ, not listen. I can read much faster than I listen and I like to hold a book and well, you get the idea. But when I have listened to audiobooks, sci-fi and mystery stood out to me as genres I almost preferred to listen to for some reason. I would love some recommendations for one that I can listen to on a car ride coming up.

I have not read in a while so sadly I can’t think of any examples.

    Thanks!

    1. I’m not in the loop with sci-fi, but I do listen to a lot of mysteries and thrillers on audiobook!

      Some good performances:

The Guest List by Lucy Foley

A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham

      Recursion by Blake Crouch

      The Maid by Nita Prose

The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave

Tales From the Gas Station: Volume One (theatrical performance) by Jack Townsend

The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware

    2. The Rivers of London books by Ben Aaronovitch are urban fantasy mysteries, and the audiobook narrator is fantastic. Book one is Rivers of London (though got titled Midnight Riot in the US).

    3. Paramedic229635 on

The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells are really well narrated. A humanoid robot frees itself from control and tries to get by with new found freedom.

If you want some comedy sci-fi, I can recommend Will save the galaxy for food and Will destroy the galaxy for cash by Yahtzee Croshaw. An unemployed star pilot tries to get by in a universe where transporters are a thing.

    4. the motes in gods eye, hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, the expanse, i personally love the dresden files audiobooks read by james marsters
