Honestly? Ulysses by James Joyce. It’s a notoriously difficult book to read but I’ve read it cover to cover three times. Now I just pick it up every now and then and read individual chapters. A feature of Ulysses is Joyce’s use of different styles so chapters feel different which means each time I pick it up I can get something different from it.

Sphere by Michael Crichton – it was one of the first “grown up” books I ever read and it just sucks you in, spins ya round
