I’ve taken a break from reading and would love to pick things up again and would like to avoid books that are too heavy or slow (like Blood Meridian, although I did enjoy The Road).
I’m a fan of dystopian sci-fi, (I’ve read all the classics and typical school reads like Animal Farm and 1984), Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Neuromancer, Memory Police, etc. I also love absurdist fiction, like The Stranger and Metamorphosis. Been thinking about picking up some Murakami but I’ve long abstained due to the sexism critiques. I’ve always enjoyed The Sirens of Titan as a cross between sci-fi and absurdist fiction and it’s lighthearted comedic writing. I don’t think I can handle heavy lore and need writing that has some momentum since I’m quite tired at night. I’ve read most books turned into movies so anything unique to add to my bookshelf would be great!
I’m open to laughing, crying, being afraid, falling in love, questioning existence, anything.
Thank you!

Check out Black Crouch! I like his books. Also Project Hail Mary (Andy Wier) is one of my new favorites
