I’m looking for christmas books for my December reading list.
I’m trying to be as specific as possible.
I would prefer stories about family, found family (i.e. adoption), animals (I love dogs!!!!) in the focus/as a major subplot, stories where the characters have to rediscover the true meaning of Christmas.
Can also include LGBTQ+ themes and characters, but it doesn’t have to.
I don’t like stories that focus too much on religion. It’s not a major problem if mentioned in passing, although I’d prefer it without it.
I also like older, nostalgic stories (e.g. A Christmas Carol).
Short story collections are good, too.
Most Christmas books with romance that I find in bookstores/on the internet all have similar plots, reminiscent of Hallmark movies. I’ve tried it, but it’s just not my style (and in general). If you know of unconventional Christmas books with romance that don’t follow this pattern, recommendations are welcome.
