Hey everyone! Long time reader, first time poster! I’m looking for a new book to read as i’ve finally finished my TBR and i’m looking for some suggestions! I’m feeling something fantasy/scifi. I’d like something with an interesting magic system, and books with queer mcs or side characters are a bonus but not a requirement. I’m gonna include some books i’ve recently read, along with what i liked from them, to help give some insight on what i enjoy in a book!
ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas- of course. Come on. Fantasy. Magic. Fairies. Very much enjoyed every book but i think number 2 was my favorite.
Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao- the mechs were super interesting and i loved seeing the MC change throughout the book
Seven Faceless Saints by MK Lobb- another interesting magic system. Characters were interesting and relatable.
All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody/CL Herman- if i could knock myself over the head and reread this with no memory of my first readthrough i absolutely would. The characters? Incredible. The magic? Interesting and mysterious. Just perfect.
A taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland- while this book probably has the most subtle “magic” system, the characters and dynamic between the MC and his love interest provide an incredible reading journey. If i cant find a new book to read i’ll probably just reread this one.
Wild and Wicked Things by Francesca May- another example of great characters and magic. Loved every minute.
