As a child and teen I devoured books, novels or whatever, but as a young and less young adult I’ve read an average of <1 book per year. I just pick up books, read a couple chapter and put them down forever.

I need something that will draw me in and keep me there!

As a teen I was head over heels for the usual suspects: Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Kane Chronicles, The Hobbit. The last books I enjoyed were American Gods and A Wizard of Earthsea. Unfortunately I haven’t been drawn to either authors’ other works (and the sequels to aWoE were decidedly not for me).

I tried to get into the Name of the Wind, The Way of Kings, A Wizard’s First Rule, Interview With the Vampire, but they all had some barriers that just prevented me from getting into it. Either the main character was not someone I cared for, or the universe was too complex too soon, or the plot took too long to start…

I’m at a loss; I desperately want to read more (I do have an extensive TBR list) but everything seems so… boring. I need your help!

Maybe you have different tastes in literature than you did back then. I suggest picking three different genres and try reading a book from each.

    2. The Queens Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner. We seem to have pretty similar reading tastes and this is a series I’ve reread multiple times.

Try a few things completely different. Something might stick.
