I’be been looking everywhere for a book similar to the game “What Remains of Edith Finch”.
I’m looking for something that sort of begins off as a type of family curse/trauma but as you continue you kind of realise that the “curse” is actually just the family being neglectful of their children and relatives.
Not sure if that makes any sense but if you know the game you’ll understand, anything of that essence would be greatly appreciated.

* The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood? No one thinks the family is cursed, but the family has certainly had a lot of misfortune and it takes the entire book to untangle what exactly happened. Similar to the game, the main character is writing about her life for a descendant to read.
* A more literal curse but also familial neglect: Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
* I haven’t read this book, but I’ve seen people say it’s a lot like What Remains of Edith Finch: One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
