This is more a question for the men.
In my own life, I’ve always oscillated in my feeling of kinship between the two. I’d say that I’m more of a Melanie now than a Scarlett but in some ways, I wish I was vain and shallow enough to be a Scarlett. For some reason, (and despite Ashley’s preference) I am just under the impression that men like and obsess over women like Scarlett—women with main character vibes, strikingly beautiful and bold. See how Rhett continues to chase her even through her selfish immaturities.
I cannot help but reflect it onto my own life as I reflect upon my own relationship and the baggage that comes with past relationships, not to mention the challenge of growing old(er) (34F).

I’m not picking either of these racist skanks.
If I have to choose a racist skank, I’ll go for whoever is option B to Scarlett. That woman was toxic, and not redeemed at the end. So Melanie. But Mel sounds like wifey material anyway.
20 years ago I would have said Melanie, now Scarlett, but the older Scarlett after the war and personal tragedy… and only if she loved me.
Scarlett – difficult, but way more exciting.
And I cant help but link names to the actresses who played them in the movie. I could never find Olivia de Haviland remotely attractive but Vivian Leigh was gorgeous.
