can someone explain why if you like this theme?
I’m curious to hear why some people are attracted to the bad girls/bad boys trope. Although I’ve read books and watched shows featuring this trope, I haven’t experienced the same level of excitement that many others seem to feel. I want to understand the charm of this trope without offending anyone’s preferences. I genuinely want to know so that I may potentially enjoy it more in the future.

bad boys and bad girls are intrinsically hot. they represent rebellion and anarchy in a way that’s not really encouraged by what we know about societal conventions
Because I’m actually pretty straightlaced in life and for my social group and my significant other I also prefer that. And so sometimes i like to imagine i was the opposite. It’s the things i wouldn’t do.
Also it’s true that it’s harder to have a story from a rule-abider’s point of view, it doesn’t lend itself to exciting acts of derring-do, so creators and audiences gravitate towards exciting characters.
joni Mitchell had a line in a song : afraid of the devil and attracted to those who ain’t.
I’m not into the bad boys thing, but the friends I’ve had who were, made me think of that line.
I’ve always believed it was because of the feeling of being special, if this bad boy/girl is mean to everyone else, or doesn’t get along with anyone, but is this sweet, tender partner for you, it makes you feel special. That’s always how I’ve seen it, and had it been explained to me.
Because I can fix him 🤡
Part of the beauty and the beast thing. The idea empowerment via taming someone wild and/or powerful.
