Don’t get me wrong, a spicy read is fine from time to time. But sometimes, I just want to read a whimsical, immersive, feminine fantasy with a strong female lead that isn’t centered around the spicy parts.
Brandon Sanderson’s books are very good for strong female characters, and spiciness is not really a thing. You might also find Lynn Flewelling’s Tamir Triad interesting – it’s a different take on gender and femininity, with some excellent female characters.

The Dragon Heart Legacy series by Nora Roberts. The first one is The Awakening. All adult characters. A little romance but it’s a subplot.

The Empress of Salt and Fortune, by Nghi Vo
The Bullet Catcher’s Daughter, by Rod Duncan
Lonely Werewolf Girl, by Martin Millar (this one does have more spicy bits, but it’s not central to the plot)

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles are all whimsy, no spice. A satirical fairy tale where princesses run off to live with dragons and advise giants that consulting pays better than pillaging. And book three has talking cats
