Please suggest me books similar to american psycho
While the gorey parts of it were a bit hard to get through i really enjoyed the themes and tone of the book, i also really liked towards the end when it got more surreal and I’ve been trying to find a book like it for awhile now.
First, I would like to say that I do not read horror nor have I read this book or the book I’m about to mention. That being said the first book that popped into my head was Psycho by Robert Bloch. May be good. Might be complete rubbish. 🤷♀️

These might not be what you’re looking for, but the best I can think of–
Privilege series by Kate Brian. YA series about a rich sociopathic girl, with brand-dropping that reminded me of American Psycho.
The Ripliad series by Patricia Highsmith. A sociopathic social climber who I feel is somewhat similar to Patrick.
Liar’s Poker by Michael Lewis. Nonfiction about Wall Street in the 1980’s, deals with similar corrupt, antisocial, power-hungry psychology as American Psycho.
Primates of Park Avenue by Wednesday Martin. Nonfiction about rich New York women, who are conformist, competitive, image-obsessed, and decadent in a way that’s rather similar to Patrick.

read any Chuck Palahniuk? I would go with Choke, Rant or anything after Fight Club, through about 2010 I have read most and all are pretty out there…

The Shards is practically BEE mashing together it and Less Than Zero and bits of his other works and making it super Gay and creating the masterpiece he was always meant to write.

Self Care by Leigh Stein doesn’t have the murders but definitely has a lot of the ridiculous branded products.
Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes, again no gore but definitely has some stupid rich people

Have you read other books by Ellis? I feel like *Glamorama* really goes that route and harder.

If “American Psycho” is about an east-coast, masculine, successful 80’s psycho, “Maeve Fly” is a west-coast, feminine, under-achieving 2020’s psycho. A HUGE part of it is paying homage to “American Pscyho”. Maeve just prefers to rant about Hollywood history, pretentious books, and Halloween music.
