Im in search for books that are similar to the picture of Dorian gray. I absolutely loved the way Wilde wrote and thought the story was so poetic, interesting, thrilling and almost every character was so unique and captivating. Some passages in the book really made me think and reflect on the way that I see things in my day to day life. I loved that and would like a similar experience in a different book. I will obviously go and read other books by Wilde but would also like some suggestions by different authors who might’ve had a similar effect on you!

Quite different subject matter, but I got similar feelings from Venus in Furs by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch.
I think Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh has somewhat similar feelings, and many beautiful passages.
This is more of a stretch, but Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote, The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, and everything I’ve read by F. Scott (& Zelda) Fitzgerald leave a lot of the story unsaid or communicated through symbolism, in a way that I feel is similar to Dorian Gray.
I haven’t read it, but I know Wilde was heavily influenced by A rebours by Joris-Karl Huysmans.
