I’m looking for books with the antagonists (or some of them) are terrorist with power/abilities/superpowers or where the main character has abilities and is drafted into some sort of secret agency (or both). Not costumed superheroes or dastardly supervillains. Preferably not super dark, but it’s okay if it is. Thanks!

    1. *The Rook* is Hellboy meets Blake Crouch. A woman wakes up without memory and surrounded by people she obviously bested in a brutal fight. She finds out she is a powered individual working for a government supernatural agency and someone from within is trying to kill her.

V.E. Schwab’s *Vicious* series is what happens when college roommates discover a way to tap into supernatural powers. What comes out is a tale of cat and mouse filled with revenge, jealousy, and violence.

*Night Watch* is a cool Russian series about a police force tasked with taking on supernatural evil. Entertaining and unique for it’s time.

*Atlas Six* is a sneaky Dark Academia book. You get comfortable that it’s filled with the standard tropes only to have it reveal itself as a carefully planned trap. For a book I wanted so desperately to hate, this one might end up as one of my favorite “20-somethings with powers” series.
