My brother is trying to get back into reading. He recently read “The Sun Also Rises” and loved it. He asked me for similar reads but unfortunately I am drawing a blank. After asking for specifics, he said he enjoyed both the writing style and the expat Americans in Europe trope. I feel like Henry James would not be up his alley. I thought maaaybe “Tender is the Night” but figured I would see if there are any better suggestions out there!

Giovanni’s Room
The rest of Hemingay’s bibliography?
Simone de Beauvoir’s The Mandarins? The trope here is rather “French intellectuals in Paris”, but a few similarities on how time and occupation were percieved.
The Rum Diaries by Hunter S Thompson seems to be heavily influenced by the sun also rises. Not as good in my opinion, but still interesting.
More Hemingway… A Movable Feast – For Whom The Bell Tolls – basically you can’t go wrong
