    Hello,

So many times I took a shot and tried to find a new book to read but I always end up being sceptical and not going ahead with what I pick and again find my self not reading anything. Usually when I try to find something I browse in sci-fi/exploration/adventure genres.
In hopes of finding new authors and ideas I am turning here for some help.

I read Winnetou and other Karl May books when I was in highschool and it was my best reading experience so far.

This year I finished 3 Herberts Dune books but decided to stop at the fourth because as much as I like the world it is created in I lost interest and perhaps prefer to think about the world and how it works in my head rather than keep reading. Nothing from Messiah and Children of Dune gave me the same dopamine as Winnetou and other Karl May books.

I was reminded of Jules Verne and his book “The Fur Country” which I read halway when I was younger and while the story sounds interesting I am afraid it will not touch me since I am close to being 30years old and the book is as far I understand mostly aimed at young teenagers.

This also brings me to my next question. Where do you find out about new authors and books and how do you decide what to read?
I know if I were to pick something that would not catch my interest at first it would be hard to continue but then again if I will stop half way, how do I know I am not missing out? And if I read the whole book and decide I didn’t like it I will feel like I lost time on it and again get discouraged to read.

What I tried so far was to find something through goodreads but I can’t see it as a valid “imdb” for books at all.

So thank you for all your support and ideas!
