Hi there reddit!
Me and my wife have the tradition to give each other a book on christmas eve to enjoy with some food and drink. Every year I try to find something fun and this year I start my search early. These are not really in the genre I’m reading so maybe one of you can help me out a bit. Thanks for the help!
* Anne-Gine Goemans – Holy Trientje (dutch)
* Paolo Cognetti – eight mountains
* Dave Eggers – The monk of mokha
* Annie Dillard – Pilgrim at Tinker Creek
* Raynor Winn – The salt path
* Tamsin Calidas – I am an island
* Herman Hesse – Siddharta
* Roxane van Iperen – ‘t hoge nest (dutch)
* Paulo Coelho – the pilgrimage
* Jelle Brandt Corstius – As in tas (dutch)

Would she enjoy something about the United States, specifically the Great Plains states of the Dakotas? This prose book was written by award winning poet Kathleen Norris. It is a little old now, but it is beautifully written and deeply moving. I have reread it several times , it is that good.
The spirituality and nature themes of the book fit in well with the books that you listed. The book is written in English. I have no idea if it was ever translated into Dutch.
The title is Dakota: A Spiritual Geography published 1993.
