does anything come to mind?
romance can be subtle or a very slow-burn and doesn’t have to be the main part of the story.
any subgenre would do as long as it’s m/f and the male character is as i described in the title.
(preferably something that isn’t “a naked man on the cover” kind of book. it would be even better if it’s not ya, but it’s ok if you think it’s still well-written. also would love it if the female lead is interesting and complex but my focus is on the male lead right now.)

Picture of Dorian Gray, effeminate, cunning
The object of desire in ‘Northanger Abbey,’ Henry Tilney, advise his sister on dress-buying matters and has a good understanding of fabrics and their prices. But he is masculine enough to attract a romantic and boyish (she plays cricket) Catherine Morland. The novel’s author, Jane Austen, managed to make both of the characters interesting and complex IMO. She shows great promise.
