I’m a sucker for kidnapping tropes but very specific tropes (I like my kidnappers nice and decent. Haha). So just at the off chance I haven’t yet read them all:
– the well familiar “He kidnaps her and they fall in love” but NOT the dark romances (no dub-con/non-con). More like: he has a good reason for doing what he’s doing, or he’s an escaped convict wrongfully convicted, or seeking a justified revenge etc. (I loved Maggie’s Man by Lisa Gardner, Perfect by Judith Mccnaught, Burn by Linda Howard etc).
– when one of the hostages is the FMC’s child that eventually bonds with MMC (like in Hawk O’Toole’s Hostage or Lethal by Sandra Brown).
– in general: a bong between an abducted child and a kidnapper (but the genuine kind, not where the kidnapper is psychotic or grooming a victim), like in James Gripando’s The Abduction or Toothache Tree by Jack Galloway).
– any of the above tropes in historical novels like Scottish or Westerns (like The Hostage by Susan Wiggs or the Beloved series by Patricia Potter).
– Anything with aftermath of kidnapping where the FMC and MMC reconcile or find closure (like “Wrong Place Wrong Time by Tilia Jacobs or Wild Encounter by Nikki Logan)
