Suggestions for my husband who currently only reads non-fiction. Something to help him fall in love with reading for fun. He’s not a fan of dark horror movies.
What kind of non fiction does he like? What other sorts of media (movies, TV, games, etc) does he like?
You could start with a movie such as Lord of the Rings, Stardust, Master and Commander: the Far Side of the World, or The Princess Bride and if he likes the movie, he could read the book.

Riyria Revelations maybe.

Some people are just wired that way, to enjoy documentary and photography over fiction and illustration. I think the best bet is realistic fiction. But of course there is nothing wrong with sticking with non-fiction.
The Kite Runner – Khaled Hosseini
The Outsiders – S E Hinton
Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant – Anne Tyler
Songbird – Sebastian Faulks
Brighton Rock – Graham Greene

I’m about 90-10 nonfiction. I much, much prefer real life and read to learn. Which is how I define fun when reading. Here are a few of my recent 5-star titles in no particular order:
The Sun Is a Compass: A 4,000-Mile Journey into the Alaskan Wilds –Caroline Van Hemert
The Big Picture –Sean Carrol
Thinking, Fast and Slow –Danny Kahneman
I Contain Multitudes –Ed Yong
How the World Really Works: The Science Behind How We Got Here and Where We’re Going –Vaclav Smil
Enlightenment Now –Steve Pinker
The Hacking of the American Mind –Robert Lustig
The End of the World is Just the Beginning –Peter Zeihan
Pale Blue Dot –Carl Sagan
Longitude: The True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time –Dava Sobel
