The best example character I can give for this is Audrey Belrose from Huniepop, (for those who dont play trashy games: she is vain, highly unpleasant and mean spirited, but also decently funny and not quite caring but ‘live and let live’ outside of her willingness to spit venom at whoever shes talking to)
Understandably, I haven’t had much luck finding a romance centered around falling for someone who is, by all metrics, awful to be around, but if anyone here knows of any stories like this I’d appreciate a recommendation!
I prefer WLW stories but I’ll take anything that more or less fits the prompt.

The Road To High Saffron is a dystopian novel told from the point of view of a guy fed to a man-eating tree by the girl he was crushing on. I love it!
happy all the time by Laurie Colwin covers two couples. one of them is a spiky, snarky, highly intelligent woman called Misty Berkowitz. She gives her besotted swain Vincent a really hard time.
