My dad loves international spy thrillers. If he’s committed, he can go through 1 in less a day. He’s 74 & has been a voracious reader for years. Lately for his gifts (Father’s Day, birthday, etc) I’ve been getting him new books to read.

He took the liberty of sharing with me the other day that he won’t read a book in his genre written by a woman and/ or someone in the UK. His reasoning is that these authors spend too much time in the details & aren’t action-oriented enough. He needs the books to be fast-paced.

So my Christmas troll to him is to find one, if not several, books written by women in the UK that defy his criticisms. If this means that I have 10 different books wrapped under the tree for him, then so be it.

I don’t read much in this genre so I’m turning to the good people of Reddit to help me prove him wrong.

    Your help is greatly appreciated!

French police thrillers if he’s open to that: Fred Vargas (it usually takes getting to the author’s bio to realise she’s a woman).
